Honda F6C Valkyrie Intake runner O-Ring seals - Buna-N/Nitrile Rubber

(as per HONDA OEM - part number 16075-GHB-B70) . . . . . or Viton® Rubber (FPM)O-rings

These Intake runner O-ring Seals, supplied as standard by Honda, are OEM Part number 16075-GHB-B70, the Viton® Rubber (FPM) O-ring seals are far superior

Honda OEM O-rings use an (American Standard Buna-N) which is a NBR Nitrile rubber, that while are still very good and the industry standard, will not last as long or can cope with
the very high temperatures that a
Viton® O-ring is capable of

Do you need to replace these Seals ?

If you look at the picture below, you will see some brown staining appearing around the bottom edges of the intakes,
this is a sure sign that your seals are failing, in many cases it can be worse, also it indicates that air could be sucked in here as well, making the engine run improperly

Kit contents: Six Viton-GF O-rings for Intake Manifold
These replace Honda part number 16075-GHB-B70 , which is a nitrile part, but these can see be purchased if required

We recommend the use of Viton-GF for this application. This kind of rubber is much better suited to the heat at the head, the MTBE and the methanol added to petrol these days.

These Viton GF O-rings will seal better and for a much longer time, no matter what the bizarre fuel with which you accidentally fill up your tank, and no matter how hot your engine gets, and no matter what bike fluid gets sprayed all over them.

Honda sells us nitrile O-rings rated at 212 degrees F, with absolute max rated temperature of 245 degrees F. The crankcase at the top can reach 218 degree F routinely, and the heads get hotter than that. How much hotter depends on the wind speed. It requires some unknown number of hot days, with stop and go traffic, to make the Honda O-Ring harden and stop sealing.

The Viton-GF O-ring will handle a temperature excursion past 400 degrees F and still seal. Your engine oil boils below 350 degrees F, and the engine will seize up at a temperature less than that. You can't run your engine hot enough to make these O-rings fail.

So the choice is yours you can buy the standard Nitrile rubber ones or the superior VITON seals

Buna-N/Nitrile Rubber

Buna-N is the American term for Nitrile rubber, it is also known as: Butadiene Acrilonitrile, Perbunan or NBR rubber. Grades vary on their properties due to their acrylonitrile content. A high acrylonitrile content has a better oil resistance while a low acrylonitrile content has better resilience and low temperature flexibility.

Nitrile has outstanding resistance to: oils, petrol, solvents and lubricants but has poor ozone resistance. As such, nitrile gaskets are particularly suited for use with fats, oils, fuels and other liquids contaminated by these.

It is ideally used in temperatures ranging from -20 degrees C to +110 degrees C (Dependant on grade).

Viton® Rubber

Viton® is a brand name for DuPont's fluoropolymer elastomer. In comparison to other elastomers, Viton® can withstand a higher temperature.

Viton® rubber gaskets are used in the presence of aggressive chemicals, fuels and explosive gases; and as such have application in the oil, gas and mining industries.

Viton rubber has a particularly wide operating temperature range ranging from - 25 degrees C up to + 200 degrees C (higher for short periods)
